MTG Mind Shatter Card question. Help, please?
Hi all,
Me and my friend have just started to play Magic and are still learning many rules. One question about Mind Shatter: Target player discards X cards at random.
Where does the target player discard cards from? His hand, battlefield, AND/OR library?

Well, for beginner's some cards can be hard to understand without Oracle Text, so it is a good question. The answer is simple, discarding a card always refers to a players hand. Cards can, however, force a player to put cards from his or her library into the graveyard, this will be stated on the card. For example, Tome Scour has the effect, "Target player puts the top 5 cards of his or her library into his or her graveyard". But for any card text referring to 'discarding', it is always done from a players hand. Some cards have an effect called Reinforce. This mechanic allows a player to pay a certain mana cost and discard the card, from your hand, to place a number of +1/+1 counters on a creature card in play equal to the number designated after the italicized Reinforce. (i.e. Reinforce 1 means place a single +1/+1 counter on a creature in play after discarding the reinforce card from your hand and paying its mana cost). Getting Your Ex Back --- Your Necessary Frame Of Mind
So you have lost your significant other on the battlefield of love but it does not mean you have to loose the war. The time right after the breakup, rather you realize it or not, is crucial to determining if you can salvage the relationship. Now more than ever you need to compose your thoughts and feelings and concentrate on a plan of action. Now, I know as well as anyone that the hurt and pain that comes with the loss is great, however, time is of the essence, every minute loss, puts them further out of your reach. Instead of wallowing in sorrow channel that energy into creating a plan of action to get your ex back.
The very first and most important component of this plan is your mental process. You can no longer afford yourself the option of thinking of the person as you did while you were in the relationship. Another component is the masking of your true feelings. In order for you to succeed you are going to have to become unreadable. Your focus should be on achieving the desired effect through your speech and actions. Take time to contemplate every action and the reaction. Avoid any action or comment that would make you appear desperate or weak. Half of the battle is regaining your control, once done, the rest is just executing the plan.
Your very first step of the plan would be to agree with the break-up no mater how much it hurts. This is where you embed the necessary thinking process of the other person to get them to react the way you need them to so that you can make your next move. Not only are you going to agree, but you have to own it and make it work to your advantage. For instance you might say “ You know your right, I was just thinking the same thing and I think a breakup is probably best for both of us.” This opening move is essential because it puts you on their side and the other is that it lets them go. This also works because it is totally unexpected.
There are many different underlying strategies that can be used from this point forward. The book entitle Magic Of Making Up System not only explores the strategies but also takes you step by step through the plan of action necessary to win back your ex. I like it because it also defines the reason the moves are made as well as what the desired result will be. This is a must have book for anyone wanting to win back or even keep the one they love.
