Women over 50, Dream On!
In the past few months, I have had the honor of hearing some of the best coaches and motivational speakers in the world at conferences and local workshops. One theme that keeps popping up is "Dreams." Dream big, plan where you want to be in the future, overcome fear, and focus on the positive. For women over 50, some might think that it is too late for such plans. I say let the dreaming begin! There has never been a better time to resurrect old dreams, or create new ones.
Marcia Wieder, Founder of Dream University, has built an entire program around defining and achieving your dreams. Here are some of the points from her book Making Your Dreams Come True.
•Get in touch with your passion--passion permeates everything
•Live your dream by making deliberate choices, not just responding to whatever life throws your way.
•Make the dream bigger than your current reality
•Commit to your dream
•Allow yourself to get lit up, turned on, and really passionate about your dreams
•Getting in touch with your passion will always get you out of your rut and onto a higher road
•Everything is possible
Tim Levy, author of The Life Summit, Map Out the Life of Your Dreams in Six Easy Steps, is passionate about focusing on what you want, not what you don't want. He says to get a clear, consistent and unambiguous picture of the best life you can imagine, then claim it to be true. Get your "left brain" out of the way and be creative! Then transform your life as you make your dreams come true.
Even Eleanor Roosevelt had something to say about dreams: "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
I encourage you to take some time for reflection, some time to focus on the future and what you want to achieve in this wonderful life after 50. Get clear about what you want, don't let fear get in the way, and live with high expectations. Share your dreams with your girlfriends, and cheer one another on as you reach for the stars. There is nothing you can't do--believe it!
